MENTOR was created more than 30 years ago to expand that opportunity for young people by building a youth mentoring field and movement, serving as the expert and go-to resource on quality mentoring. The result — a more than 10x increase in young people in structured mentoring relationships, from hundreds of thousands to millions. Since 2008, we've delivered 867 early intervention youth wellbeing programs across Australia. We’ve recruited, screened and trained over 7,200 volunteer mentors. Most importantly, we’ve been able to support almost 11,000 young people. Support a young person through an ongoing one-on-one relationship. Serve as a positive role model and friend. Plan and participate in activities together. Build self-esteem and motivation in a young person. Set goals with your mentee and work toward accomplishing them. Spend 4-6 hours per month one-on-one with mentee.Team Up Mentoring is an evidenced-based youth development program designed to support a young person’s successful path to adulthood. Team Up has also proven effective in redirecting young people toward a healthy and productive future. Mentors make a commitment to spending time with their mentees for at least one year. This resource is intended to facilitate recruiting more male mentors who are an appropriate fit for a program and thus increase capacity for serving youth in need, especially boys.
